Magnetic Silencing Facility

  • Magnetic Silencing Facility

This project provides the U.S. Navy with the ability to demagnetize Trident submarines stationed at Naval Submarine Base Georgia. The facility is comprised of a pier, an operations building, two support buildings, and a 12.47 KV substation. The structural design is the only one of its kind, supporting 120,000 feet of 1,000 MCM 5KV/CU EPR and 40,000 feet of 1,500 MCM/ 5KV/CU EPR. Much of the cable is installed under water, creating multiple loops of cable encompassing the submarines when docked.
