Renamed the Adrienne Arsht Center for Performing Arts, this 13 acre site includes the 2400 seat Sanford and Delores Ziff Ballet Opera House, the 2200 seat Knight Concert Hall, a 200 seat black box Carnival Studio Theater, the Peacock Education Center, and a restored Art Deco Tower. The Parker and Vann Thomson Plaza for the Arts unites the Center buildings across Biscayne Boulevard, providing a magnificent setting for outdoor entertainment and informal gatherings. The key members of the design team include world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects theater planning and design consultant Joshua Dachs of Fisher Dachs Associates, Inc. and acoustician Russell Johnson of ARTEC, Inc. The concert hall and the ballet opera house face each other across the outdoor Plaza for the Arts. Together with the Studio Theater, these facilities serve a host of resident companies including the Concert Assoc. of Florida, Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet, New World Symphony and AACPA.
